Derby Video

As I mentioned in my last post, I've joined the local Roller Derby Team: The State College Area Rollers (SCAR for short.)

We had our first bout last weekend.  More of a scrimmage, really, since it was just our team skating against our team.

Since I'm still a beginner, I didn't skate in the bout itself, but I did skate in the Derby 101 demonstration. That's where we explain to the spectators how Roller Derby works (it's kind of complicated, and most people don't know the rules.)

The Boy™ took a bit of video. It isn't great and doesn't show much but the ten of us standing around, but it's what I have.

I'm the one in the pink socks.

I've joined a Roller Derby team.

Okay, so I'm still a scab, but i'm working my way up to being on an actual bout team when we move back to NH.

It's rough, but it's tons of fun.

I'll put up pics and/or videos when I get some.

In the meantime, you should rent Whip It and picture me instead of Ellen Page.

only the yarn is black and brown. So far, so good. But it's slow going. I might take a break before the second sock and knit something else. It's a good thing he doesn't rely on my knitted socks to keep his poor feet warm!
